Attractions
Lyngby
Art and architecture play a central role in the campus environment at DTU in Lyngby. To highlight this, DTU has established an art and architecture route and the DTUplus app, which guides visitors around campus and presents a selection of artworks and architectural landmarks.
Both routes are open to everyone during the university’s opening hours.
- The Art Route provides a guided tour of 14 artworks on the DTU Lyngby Campus. A short story about the artwork and the artist accompanies each piece. In some cases, an audio file is included, featuring a university-affiliated person reflecting on the piece and their experience.
- The Architecture Route offers a guided tour through the DTU Lyngby Campus, showcasing a mix of old and new buildings. The guide consists of 11 short audio stories tied to selected buildings on campus.
.
You can download the DTUplus app from iTunes/App Store and Google Play. Developed by DTU students with support from the Corrit Foundation, the app features an interactive map with information about the art and architecture along the routes.
A guided campus tour with a personal guide is also available.

Gardeners
The Science Park in Hørsholm is part of the Arboretum, established in 1936 to support education in forestry and horticultural botany. The park features several rare tree species, and students from the University of Copenhagen continue to use it to observe pruning techniques.
Our gardeners ensure that the green areas remain visually appealing, that access routes are maintained (clearing snow and fallen branches), and that we prioritize biodiversity. Their efforts mean that DTU Science Park does not appear as a ‘manicured’ park but as a natural landscape where nature comes first.
Our focus on biodiversity includes the following:
- Establishing 3,000 m² of wildflower meadows to support insects, butterflies, and the people working in the park.
- Installing birdhouses, insect hotels, and bat trees to encourage local wildlife.
- Replanting native tree species (beech, oak, and ash) on a 1:1 basis whenever a tree is felled.
- Allowing fallen trees, such as those brought down in storms, to remain as part of the natural ecosystem unless they pose an obstruction.
.
New initiatives and changes are continually being implemented, and we provide regular updates on our website.
The gardeners’ work supports our goal of becoming the first business area in Denmark to achieve DGNB Gold certification.
Insurance
DTU Science Park has insurance that covers fire damage and other damages to the building. However, this insurance does not cover any potential business interruption losses.
If your company requires special insurance or increased coverage for the leased premises, the company must cover the associated costs. Each company is responsible for insuring its furniture and equipment against fire and theft within the leased premises.
Lease options
DTU Science Park offers scalable commercial lease options for deep tech companies.
We rent out offices, laboratories, workshops, and storage spaces of all sizes. Your lease agreement can be flexible, allowing you to lease entire buildings or premises, floors, or individual rooms. As your requirements change, we continuously assist in matching your company’s needs, whether you are looking for more or less space.
Please contact our sales department at [email protected] if your needs change. By understanding your requirements, we can better assist you in finding the right space.

Snow removal
During winter, our gardeners handle snow removal on roads and parking areas.
We monitor meteorological websites for weather updates. Additionally, G4S (our security company) patrols the area throughout the night and reports any weather changes to the head gardener, who is responsible for calling in the snow removal team and operating the machinery himself when needed.
In addition to DTU Science Park’s team, we have a group of external contractors on standby throughout the winter season.
When is the snow cleared?
If snow falls before 3 AM, main roads and entrances will be cleared by 7 AM.
If snow falls after 3 AM, we prioritize main roads and parking areas closest to main entrances. The completion time depends on when the snowfall occurs.
Snow removal is not carried out on weekends or public holidays.
How do we ensure safe roads and entrances?
We primarily use gravel to combat snow and icy roads, as it is the most environmentally friendly option for green areas and groundwater.
We use magnesium chloride at entrances and stairways, a gentler alternative to regular road salt that effectively melts snow and ice.
Walking and running trails
Lyngby
DTU is surrounded by a network of trails suitable for walking or running on a compacted gravel surface. You can see the 5 km route here.
Along the route, you’ll pass tall trees, lower vegetation, open areas, and gentle inclines. Traffic is minimal, though there are a few road crossings, and some sections are shared with cyclists.
Hørsholm
Enjoy a walk or run along The Science Trail (Forskerruten), which starts in DTU Science Park in Hørsholm and continues through Høsterkøb to Ebberød near Birkerød. The route is marked and highlights nature, exercise, and research/science.
The entire Research Route is 13 km but can be shortened to 2.5 km or 7.5 km loops.
Below, you can see the section of the route that passes through DTU Science Park (click the map to enlarge).
