A guided tour through biodiversity and green initiatives

Join a guided tour of our unique natural surroundings

DTU Science Park is home to more than 300 deep tech companies. But between laboratories, offices, and innovation environments, you’ll also find a landscape of tree collections, flowering meadows, lakes, and habitats for insects and birds.

On this guided nature walk, you’ll gain insight into the green areas of DTU Science Park—how they were developed, how they are maintained, and how they contribute to a vibrant landscape in the middle of an innovation hub.

The tour gives both employees of companies in DTU Science Park and visitors the opportunity to experience the natural surroundings and learn about some of the initiatives created to promote landscape diversity and provide good conditions for plants and wildlife.

See the green attractions

DTU Science Park features a varied landscape with tree collections, flowering meadows, lakes, and woodland areas. On the tour, we visit some of the locations that help create diversity in nature and provide space for plants, animals, and people alike.

The green areas also function as our largest meeting space. Throughout the park, you’ll find tables and benches used for breaks, informal meetings, or a phone call in peaceful surroundings.

On the map, you can see a selection of the green attractions found in the area. During the guided tour, we visit some of these locations and explain how they support thriving habitats for plants and wildlife in the park.

The map also provides an overview of many more places to explore – along the paths, in the woodlands, and between the companies in DTU Science Park.

A selection of our green attractions

Magnolia Garden

A green area in the southern part of DTU Science Park, where a collection of magnolia trees blooms every spring with large white and pink flowers. The garden is designed as a peaceful space with paths and plantings, where visitors can take a break along the way.

Insect Hotel

The insect hotel is built from trunks, roots, and branches of trees that previously grew in the area. Here, bees, beetles, and other insects find habitats and shelter, and the structure provides favorable conditions for both overwintering and breeding.

Nature Trails

The nature trails lead through the more natural parts of the area and connect several of the green spaces. In some places, the path is constructed with planks made from trees that previously grew in the area, giving the materials new life as part of the landscape.

The Urban Tree Arboretum

The Urban Tree Arboretum is a collection of tree species that are used or have the potential to be used in urban environments. Here, visitors can experience different species side by side and observe how trees develop and respond to pruning and urban conditions over time.

The Pouch Lake

The Pouch Lake is a tranquil landscape feature in DTU Science Park and a place where many people pause during their visit. The lake is also used in research at DHI, which works with water and environmental technology and, among other things, conducts wave tests using water from the lake.

The Malus Collection

The Malus Collection is one of two apple collections in DTU Science Park and includes both eating apples and ornamental crabapples. In spring, the trees bloom in shades of white, pink, and deep red, and later in the year, they produce small colorful fruits that add variety to the landscape.
