New wireless network solution
We are introducing a new, improved wireless internet solution at DTU Science Park.
In the first phase, we are rolling out the new solution in our common areas.
All tenants receiving internet service from DTU Science Park will automatically be connected to the new network solution.
Later, the solution will be available to everyone, and tenants using other providers will have the option to switch to the new network solution.

You can purchase additional products and services to complement the PRO package.
Private firewall (PFW)
You’ll receive a private firewall, which allows you to define your security policies and further segment your company’s private network. It is provided as a dedicated domain on DTU Science Park’s firewall.
Point-to-Point connection
With a P2P connection, you can establish encrypted and direct communication without intermediaries between two devices or networks, e.g., with your own companies, other businesses, or cloud services.
Wired network ports
We provide the network port to the nearest or dedicated cross-connection point (available as an add-on). You are responsible for supplying and managing network equipment, such as firewalls.

About the network
Today, your network access is provided either through ITM8 or another internet provider, giving you direct internet access. You manage your network, WiFi, and IT security as a tenant.
With the new network solution, you will access the internet through DTU Science Park’s wireless WiFi network with a Next-Generation Firewall.

Today, tenants are responsible for setting up firewalls and securing network protection.
With the new network solution, security is a fundamental and integrated part of the system. We use the Fortinet FortiGate Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) with the Unified Threat Protection suite. FortiGate NGFW is internationally recognized for its high-security standards and performance, providing strong protection against cyber threats and attacks.
Its advanced security measures ensure you can work safely on the network and the internet. The connection is encrypted and segmented, preventing users from accessing each other’s data or devices.
Key security features:
• Intrusion Prevention System (IPS)
Monitors the network for malicious or unintended activity and responds with countermeasures.
• Anti-malware protection (AMP)
Scans the network for malware, viruses, and trojans, effectively blocking threats.
• URL-filtrering
Blocks access to websites known for harmful or malicious content.
Security parameters in the new network solution are continuously updated to protect against emerging threats.
You can access the network in all indoor areas of the communal buildings in Hørsholm and Lyngby, so you can bring your laptop to the cafeteria/Ricco’s or a meeting room and stay connected.
Yes, guests can access the wireless guest network.
A redundant network is a solution with multiple connections and routes to ensure reliability. If a failure or outage occurs in one part of the network, the connection is automatically redirected through an alternative route. This minimizes the risk of downtime and ensures a stable and reliable internet connection.
The cost of the internet will increase so that we can provide you with this significantly faster and more stable network solution with advanced data security, high operational reliability, redundancy, and monitoring.
Starting July 1, 2025, the internet expense will be billed separately on your invoice. Billing will occur monthly and will be based on the size of your lease:
- Up to 100 sqm: 495 DKK per month
- 101-500 sqm: 1,995 DKK per month
- Over 500 sqm: 2,995 DKK per month
All prices are excl. VAT.
Installation and setup
The new network will go live on May 1 in Lyngby and June 1 in Hørsholm.
Both networks (the new and the existing ones) will run in parallel until June 30. After that, the existing ITM8 network will be discontinued.
We will ensure that all your users are created, but you must connect all your devices to the new network before June 30.
If you have a direct agreement with ITM8 outside of DTU Science Park, you can keep your internet with them.
Yes, you can, but other providers may not offer the same flexibility, availability, and speed. With DTU Science Park’s network solution, for example, you can freely move between the canteen and meeting rooms via a wireless connection – a freedom you won’t get with other solutions.
When the ITM8 network shuts down on June 30, 2025, routers and other network equipment will no longer be usable. In the future, network access will be wireless. Please disconnect and either return your router to your supplier or dispose of it.

You can purchase wired network connections if you have devices that don’t support WiFi. Just contact [email protected].
You do not have a static IP address as a user on our shared network. You will be assigned a dynamic IP address. If you require a static IP address, you can purchase one. Just email [email protected], and they will assist you.
If you need to use fixed connections over the internet, you must purchase a P2P connection or a fibre connection.
If you have a server in a rack cabinet, you can keep it, but a port must be purchased, along with any necessary relocation and a fixed IP address. Once this is set up, the server can be integrated into the tenant’s established corporate network. DTU Science Park also offers the option to rent space in rack cabinets, which can support this solution. However, it is not possible to connect switches to the ports, as the monitoring system detects this and automatically restricts access. Likewise, routers cannot be connected to distribute the network wirelessly via a port.
We will ensure that any downtime is as brief as possible. If you have devices that use a network cable, please purchase a network connection for them in advance.
During the transition to the new network, Atea will be available to answer questions and provide support.
- Lyngby: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 12:00 at the reception in weeks 19-20.
- Hørsholm (Agern Allé 24): Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 to 12:00 at the reception in weeks 23-24.

Operation
There are many benefits to the new network:
- You will have excellent coverage and fast Internet without bandwidth limitations.
- The network is built on redundant fibre infrastructure between the connected buildings, which minimizes downtime risks and ensures a robust and stable connection.
- You can stay on the network as you move around the buildings, for example, to meeting rooms and the canteen, without needing to switch to the guest network or use mobile data.
- Your data is protected by a Next-Generation Firewall with advanced and encrypted security measures, so you can work safely and securely on the network and the Internet.
- You won’t need to install network equipment like routers and WiFi Access Points.
