A total of 7,450 m² will be dedicated to ALK’s expanded research and development activities. ALK expects this investment to create new jobs and strengthen the company’s position as a global leader in allergy treatment.
At ALK, we look forward to moving into a modern innovation laboratory that will provide us with optimal facilities to expand our research activities, particularly in early-stage research and new indications. This will enable greater cohesion within R&D and ensure a more efficient knowledge transfer from discovery to product development. It is an important step for ALK’s future growth, including creating new jobs in Danish life science for researchers who want to help people with allergies.
Henriette Mersebach
Executive Vice President, Research & Development at ALK
The agreement for the new building was reached less than a year after ALK expanded with Søhuset, located adjacent to ALK’s other facilities, where part of the team moved in at the beginning of 2024. Søhuset is also part of DTU Science Park, and the new building will be near it.
A strategic location in Medicon Valley
With its central position in Medicon Valley, DTU Science Park is already home to several of Denmark’s leading life science companies. The new building supports the government’s recently announced life science strategy, which aims to strengthen a rapidly growing sector.
“Our new laboratory buildings are designed to set the standard for future research facilities and create optimal conditions for companies driving innovation and growth in life science,” says Lars Birch, Chief Real Estate Officer at DTU Science Park. “We are therefore delighted that ALK has chosen to expand their R&D facilities with us. Their strategy to lead in allergy research and development aligns perfectly with our ambitions to support growth and innovation.”

Construction with restoration plans
DTU Science Park is committed to ensuring that development takes place with respect for nature, biodiversity, and people.
Through restoration plans and biodiversity initiatives, we focus on creating valuable natural habitats for plants, insects, and animals in other areas of the science park alongside the construction process.

Sustainability Manager, DTU Science Park
The science park replants in a 1:1 ratio using native species such as oak, beech, and ash. Additionally, new Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) areas are being established, which will evolve into valuable habitats for plants, insects, and animals over time.
